Timo Sarpaneva for Rosenthal — Rare Ceramic Table Lamp, "Sarpaneva Kollektion," c. 1970–1972 A sculptural table lamp by Timo Sarpaneva for Rosenthal Studio-Line, composed of stacked spherical ceramic elements in a characteristic black glaze, crowned by a round glass diffuser. This piece belongs to the short-lived ceramic collection Sarpaneva created exclusively for Rosenthal in the early 1970s — a collaboration that predates his globally known "Suomi" porcelain service (1976) and is far less documented, making surviving examples genuinely rare. Timo Sarpaneva (1926–2006) was one of the defining figures of postwar Finnish design: Grand Prix winner at the Milan Triennale in 1954 and 1957, recipient of the Lunning Prize in 1956, and Honorary Royal Designer for Industry (London, 1963). His long partnership with Iittala began in 1951; the Rosenthal collaboration followed around 1970. Condition: very good vintage condition overall, with minimal age-related traces on the ceramic and glass. One stress crack is present on the upper part of the lamp (visible in photos) — otherwise no major damage, only light signs of use typical for ceramics of this period. Weight approx. 4.5 kg.
